Hi Andrea,

Understand that in order to secure a conference room, you typically have to commit to rooms in a hotel. We chose the Fairmont because of it's location and it's reputation. That being said, there is lots of accommodation in Whistler, and by no means are you obligated to stay at the Fairmont. There are a few hostels up there, and cheaper hotels. Unfortunately, it's a massive process organizing a group rate at a hotel, and we simply can't do it for more than one due to time constraints. Part of the appeal of this WordCamp is for it to be up in Whistler, and unfortunately, Whistler is an expensive place that is really out of our control.

There was a WordCamp in Vancouver that was part of BarCamp a few months ago, and another one coming up in a few months also in the Vancouver area. So hopefully you can attend one of those if you can't make it up here.

Hey Cathy. Looks like so far you and I are the only ones looking for a ride. The chateau definitely isn't an option for me, nor is staying overnight anywhere in Whistler, for that matter.

WordCamp Whistler folks, you did an awesome job organizing this, but I'm frustrated that I probably won't be able to attend. A request for next time, please consider the less affluent of us.

I'm looking for a carpool situation too. I think we could rent a car too - if we had 3 or 4 people, it would really be cost effective!

I for sure am NOT staying at the chateau, (are you guys gonna teach me how to make the big bucks?) But I'll dust off my going-to-town clothes, cause I'm soo looking forward to it. :D

Anyone going to stay anywhere else?

If anyone has room and is going for the day, I'd be grateful for a lift. A hippy schoolbus sounds like all kinds of fun.

Holy crap, I remember when the bus used to be $36 and breakfast was included. I'm going to try to get Shahee to bring the hippie schoolbus up with all the Fearless people and maybe some extras.
