The conference is only ten days away, which means we’re in the final few laps of preparations. There should be a pile of posts in the coming days, and hopefully another podcast or so. We’re also going to do an update with regards to our social media strategy for the event, and revisit things such as the Twitter and Flickr tags we’re hoping everyone can use during the event.

The conference is at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, which is a really luxurious hotel located in Whistler village. If you are looking to stay there make sure you let them know that you are with “WordCamp Whistler” — if they have the room available, they’ll do their best to honour our group rate.

In addition, The Alpine Chalet Whistler Bed & Breakfast (rated #1 on TripAdvisor for B & B’s in Whistler) has extended a low rate for anyone wishing to come up for the 23rd and the 24th of January. So if you’re looking for a great deal, make sure you check them out and show them some support.

Our block of rooms at the Fairmont won’t be available for more than a day or two, so if you’re attending and want a really great rate in one of North America’s nicest hotels, then this is your last chance. Many of us are already staying both nights, and it sounds like there are going to be opportunities on both nights for social activities.

The Fairmont Group rate link can be found here, so please use that for booking. You can also mention â€œWordCamp Whistlerâ€ when you call the front desk, and youâ€™ll receive the same rate. After Friday the 9th, the rooms are on a first come first serve basis, and may no longer be available at the conference rate.

Our dedicated block of rooms at the Fairmont is only on hold until this Friday, after which point the rooms will be put back into the general populace. If you’re wanting to stay at the Fairmont (and I recommend it, as it’s one of North America’s nicest hotels on the hill, and many speakers and organizers are staying there), now is the time to book.

Also, after Friday the early-bird ticket discount will no longer be available, so make sure you sign up ASAP to be a part of the first WordCamp Whistler!

Fairmont Chateau Whistler Group Bookings

Busy night here in WordCamp Whistler planning land. We’re pleased to finally release the signup link for the Fairmont Chateau Whistler accommodations. The Fairmont has extended us a group rate of $269 per night, which is an amazing rate given that it’s one of North America’s most prestigious hotels right in the heart of skiing/snowboarding season. While some people will most likely drive up for the day and leave in the evening, we expect many people will want to stay for a few days and possibly get in a few days on the hills.
